Society for Neuroscience (SFN) conference in Chicago, Illinois
Congratulations to our talented postdoctoral researchers, Michelle R. Doyle, PhD and Courtney P. Wood, PhD on their outstanding poster presentations at the prestigious Society for Neuroscience (SFN) conference in Chicago, Illinois!
Michelle's poster, titled "Identification of alcohol addiction phenotypes in genetically diverse rats: implications for medication developments," was co-authored by Selen Dirik, Angelica R. Martinez, Paola Campo, Maria G. Balaguer, Courtney P. Wood, Thiago M. Sanches, Elaine Keung, Apurva S. Chitre, Beverly Peng, Sofia Jaber, Mohini R. Iyer, Xiuhan Li, Alex A. Morgan, Kalie A. Quon-Adams, Abigail Sanchez, Adam Shi, Anirudh Vaiyapuri, Abraham A. Palmer, and Giordano de Guglielmo.
This work showcased Michelle's groundbreaking research on characterizing individual differences in alcohol addiction-like behaviors using a genetically diverse rat model, with the potential to inform the development of more personalized and effective pharmacological interventions for alcohol use disorder.
Courtney's poster, "Mitigation of Addiction-Like Behaviors in Alcohol Dependent Rats by Nicotinic α3β4 Receptor Modulation," was co-authored by Michelle R. Doyle, Selen Dirik, Ran Qiao, Angelica R. Martinez, Paola Campo, Nurulain T. Zaveri, Marsida Kallupi, and Giordano de Guglielmo. Courtney's work delved into the promising therapeutic potential of targeting the nicotinic α3β4 receptor system to alleviate addiction-like behaviors in alcohol-dependent animals, offering valuable insights that could pave the way for novel treatment strategies.
The depth and quality of the research presented by Michelle and Courtney were highly praised by the SFN community. Their ability to clearly communicate their findings and their enthusiasm for advancing the field were truly inspiring.
We are immensely proud of the contributions made by these exceptional postdoctoral researchers and are confident that their work will continue to drive progress in the field.
